The "Vīksnes House" was built in 1902 and designed by German-Baltic architect Alfred Aschenkampff. It housed a luxurious fashion salon and stationery shop before World War I. Unfortunately, the Art Nouveau-styled stained glass windows in the elevator shaft were destroyed during the occupation. During the Soviet years, the building was the home of Latvian poet Mirdza Ķempe (a memorial plaque is installed on the building), as well as author and composer Marģeris Zariņš. The splendid Neo-Renaissance facade has been completely preserved, and the ceiling painting in the entrance hall is authentic.
